Somewhereyournot 1,117
Always wondered how collies instinct is to chase...but when working is constantly told "stop/start", I would imagine this would be frustrating for the dog? Yet the collie bred lurched get accused for picking runs and "jacking" when the tough gets going...iv not seen it myself. Il probably get linched for asking the question no doubt, but In my opinion it's a good one haha. I like collie xs n own one myself. What's people's thoughts... Quote Link to post

scottish lurcher 185
I think a hint of collie blood is needed in a lurcher but I feel to much is disaster , and I know plenty lads love heavy blooded collie lurchers .I have found like northerlite they can be very hot and cold so not for me . 1 Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
I do really like the collie x's, including the heavily saturated ones. I really like pure collies to be fair! But for me work wise, I think that a collie blooded lurcher with a few other bits in the mix, suits me more. I've noticed that heavily collie blooded lurchers have become 'in' over the last few years. Possibly due to the ban and people being more covert??? Or is it just because there have been a few that have become internet celebrities and folk like buying into legends? 4 Quote Link to post

Think it's more about romance and people wanting to recreate the smithfield type into a living legend, walking miracle, eighth wonder of the world and local hero Quote Link to post
Phil Lloyd 10,738
I was brought up with the so called,..'heavily influenced Collie types".....long time ago Initialy as a nipper on our Hill Farm,.. then amidst the Hop Fields of Kent... I enjoyed having such a canny critter at heel...they were good old pals.... However,...as a contemporary lurcher type,..(unless you have access to the Elsyan Fields),.they are a wee bit,..... limited... Edited October 28, 2015 by Phil Lloyd 2 Quote Link to post

I love a decent one, but some will drive you around the bend. I never told anybody anything about them, I wished for fancier looking dogs, but coming on here was like going to therapy. My name is Trenchfoot, and I am a colliex-a-holic 12 Quote Link to post
